We get a lot of questions about our beekeeping practices here at Farm on the Fen, so this workshop will cover the practice and theory of natural beekeeping. Together we will assemble a home-made Warre style beehive, and learn about the architectural strategies that support colony health.
We will also discuss the role of honeybees in our native ecology and consider the goal of responsible stewardship in our landscapes.

This will be a hands-on course and attendees will come away with a deepened understanding of sustainable apiaries, the social and biological life of honeybees, means of attracting their own wild swarms of honeybees, and the essentials of constructing their own Warre beehives.
